Brian at Blakesburg

The only reason I am posting this is to confirm that I was actually at the event. (Don’t you like the way the color of the biplane behind me really draws out the redness of my sunburned nose?)

When I first got into all this video stuff back about 1980 I worked at a local NBC affiliate. One of the dictates we were given during one news director’s regime was to always put our reporter “in the scene” so no one could accuse them of “phoning in” the report. It was also a way to help educate our viewers as to who they were watching to help bolster ratings figures. (I also think it was a cheap management spiff to keep the reporter’s egos stroked…) These factoids notwithstanding, I can tell you a lot of Television Reports are written by someone who never leaves the newsroom and are based on facts gleaned by the cameraman, the telephone, the newspaper (oh, yeah…) and -back then- the teletype wire – now the internet.

Anyway, if I get some time I may embellish this post with some screen grabs because there were no shortage of great scenes I recorded to video for my next movie. The weather was great and I stayed until about noon and then drove back to Wichita.
